SAFETY & COMPLIANCE

Safety:

Our services include complete up to date facilities. With all governmental OH&S legislation, we have devised a unique OH&S strategy with the formation of an internal ‘shared services group’. Designed to establish and maintain a best practice system of compliance and incident minimization, the group consists of a driver training manager, rehabilitation coordinator, OH&S coordinator and a shared services manager.

Fatigue Management:

With a focus on the causes of driver fatigue rather than just the regulation of hours, the National Heavy Vehicle accreditation scheme combines the expertise of industry bodies, government agencies and unions. Not only this, but we also provide a safer working environment. Our drivers are trained through the NHVAS basic fatigue management scheme. Participation in the scheme allows a continuity of delivery service by reducing additional handling and vehicle movements.

Drug & Alcohol Test:

SLLA also run a strict drug and alcohol testing program, with a zero-tolerance policy in place for proven substance abuse. All company employees, including drivers, warehouse, clerical and management staff are subjected to our drug & alcohol policy. The testing is performed regularly and administered by competent, accredited external agencies.

Driver Performance:

In keeping with our goal of setting best possible industry practice, we regularly assess driver performance. Focused on upholding industry and governmental OH&S compliance measures, we are also strongly committed to the mental and physical health wellbeing of our employees. All powered vehicles within our fleet are fitted with the latest GPS units which are monitored for delivery times, speeding infringements, erratic driving and emissions control.

Vehicle Maintenance:

All our vehicles over 4.5t GVM are compliant within the National Heavy Vehicle Accreditation Scheme (NHVAS). This inspection and registration process ensures all equipment is maintained to a high standard. Regulated by independent auditors and state-based government agencies, this system dictates our overall approach to vehicle maintenance.

Chain of Responsibilities:

We are committed to maintain and exceed our existing legal obligations through an internal compliance department. Under ‘chain of responsibility’ guidelines that work to eliminate speeding, drug taking and logbook tampering offences, we work closely with the relevant industry and legislative bodies to eradicate illegal behaviour in any form.
